Heads up, exam takers! Here’s a quick rescue guide if you don’t do well in public exams.

What if you fail your public exams? Will your future studies get harder? Although students can take ASSO,
Higher Diploma, Foundation Diploma, or repeat a year, these take longer and don’t always guarantee
university admission. But don’t worry, there are other paths you can consider!

What other options are there?
Ontario eSchool in Canada can help! They offer the OSSD program, which stands for
Ontario Secondary School Diploma, OSSD —Canada’s official high school graduation certificate
from Ontario. To get OSSD, students must complete specific credit requirements, including
compulsory and elective subjects. With an OSSD, students can apply to universities, colleges,
or other educational institutions locally, in Canada, the UK, and worldwide; it can also support
employment or vocational training.

Ontario eSchool has been established in Canada for over ten years and is recognized by the
local education authority with registration number BSID#882694. It follows the Canadian
high school system, with live interactive lessons taught by real teachers for all junior and
senior high school courses. The Ontario Ministry of Education authorizes the credits and
diploma awarded, and courses can be completed in as quickly as six months!

Can you study the OSSD program in Hong Kong?
The office of Ontario eSchool Canada in Hong Kong is the only direct school administration
office in Asia. Parents who want detailed information can also visit their office in person,
which is very convenient!

Which students are suitable for the OSSD program?
If a student fails Chinese every year, lacks confidence to do well in the DSE, or can’t take
desired electives at school, they can consider the OSSD program.

Getting an OFFER before the DSE?
Applying to local universities through OSSD is via Non-Jupas (non-Joint University Programmes
Admission System). Applications open as early as September each year. Non-Jupas offers more
choices than Jupas and may allow students to get admitted before taking the DSE, so they can
sit the exam without pressure.

When is the university application period?
Using Non-Jupas, students can directly and independently apply to various universities, choosing
their preferred schools and programs freely. Applications usually start from September to October,
giving students an early advantage and increasing their chances of admission.
