Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Programme (HKACEP) and Ontario eSchool (OeS) joined hands to launch a scholarship program for serving and retired athletes to obtain a recognised secondary school qualification in order to facilitate their tertiary education development in the future.

Ontario eSchool and Ontario Secondary School Diploma（OSSD） 

Ontario eSchool (BSID#882694) is a full Canadian online high school registered in Ontario, Canada and has the authority to grant credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Athletes can attend the Ontario eSchool courses without time and venue constraints. Upon completion of the Ontario education curriculum, athletes are awarded with OSSD and recognized as high school graduates in the Canadian province of Ontario. They can apply for admission to local, Canadian and Worldwide universities with OSSD.



Sponsorship 

  • Quota: 6-8 athletes
  • Ontario eSchool offered minimum 6 Ontario Grade 12 High School Courses to each Awardee (Maximum number of sponsored courses was subject to the number of credits successfully transferred and the final decision of Ontario eSchool)



Entry Requirements

Applicants joined this scholarship program must meet the following requirements:
  1. Achieved outstanding sports results in local or international competitions (at least won one medal from the HKSSF inter-school competition or local youth open competition organised by NSA in the past three years) and nominated by respective NSA;
  2. Should have a basic command of English proficiency which allows them to communicate and study in English; and
  3. Should have completed or about to complete Form 5 or equivalent

     

General Information

  1. Briefing Session
    Details of the Ontario eSchool Athlete Scholarship Program was announced at the Briefing Session to be held at 2:30-3:30pm on 11 June 2019 (Tuesday) at the Lecture Theatre, Olympic House, 1 Stadium Path, So Kon Po, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

  1. Online Orientation Class
    Interested athletes can sign up for one online orientation class.
  1. Application Procedure
    Interested athletes should complete the athlete application form with all supporting documents and submit to their respective NSA for verification and nomination.
  1. Nomination by NSA
    1. Athlete application forms were vetted and consolidated by NSA.
    2. Each NSA had a maximum of 2 quotas for nominating members to apply for the scholarship program.
       
  2. Awardee Selection
    1. Awardees were selected according to their sports achievements, commitment to the scholarship and suitability to participate in the program.
    2. Nominees were required to attend an interview by the Organiser.
    3. The Organiser reserves all rights to interpret/amend the rules and regulations, as well as to maintain the final decision on the results.
