Lacking confidence in your DSE results? It’s time to switch to the Non-JUPAS pathway!
There are two main routes to apply for Hong Kong universities:
1) JUPAS – for DSE (HKDSE) students
2) Non-JUPAS – for students with international programs, overseas qualifications, or the
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Last year, over 55,000 DSE candidates compete for only 15,808 JUPAS university places,
which makes admission extremely competitive. In contrast, the number of Non-JUPAS university
places is set to increase to 7,500 in the 2026/27 academic year. Meanwhile, there are roughly
2,000–3,000 Grade 12 students in international schools each year, and only 1,000–1,500 of them
choose to stay in Hong Kong to attend local universities.
Students applying through international curriculums—such as the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)—
often hold a distinct advantage and a higher chance of admission. Ontario eSchool (OeS) offers the OSSD
program to help students enhance their academic profile, increase their competitiveness for university admissions,
and build a strong foundation for entry to top institutions.
